TIME FLIES
Gawd, they say time flies when you’re having fun but when you’re living on borrowed time, money and in 120% denial there really ain’t no stopping it.
Today came around like thunder and I had decided not to do our first #ARTCONNECTS Show as we hadn’t had any time to get any guests lined up.
Then, lying in bed that morning with a cup of tea, I saw a tweet from a primary teacher who had only gone and put all her teaching resources and lesson plans for primary art on a YouTube Channel she had also set up as a response to #COVID19.
We connected on Twitter and before the cup of tea was cold had our first guest and plumped for a 3pm kick off.
WHO’S NEXT?
Then most inspiring and recently nominated for the #EdTech50 list, Richard Smith said he’d Skype in, followed closely behind by the legendary SEND Creative Educationalist and top flight LGfL consultant Carol Allen from Newcastle.
But the heart stopper came when legendary and highly respected illustrator and author, Chris Riddell, best known as the acclaimed political cartoonist for the Observer and fresh off his own BBC Desert Island Discs episode, said he’d come on (he subsequently went down the garden to his shed and didn’t come out again to check his email until after the show, but the thought meant everything! Likewise the recently former Shadow Culture Minister, Tracy Brabin nearly joined us but missed our message too)
Fortunately, Dr John Patterson, the inspirational and multi award winning Head Teacher of St Vincent’s School for Visually Impaired bit our hand off to tell us about their Journey for Peace comic book project.
The icing on the cake we had so hastily baked was literally one of the happiest, most creative and inspiring people we could wish to have on… Chris Tofu, The Festival Vibe Controller of Creative Agency Continental Drifts, and the man behind the music and vibes and Caravanserai at Camp Bestival and Shangri-La at Glastonbury
A HASHTAG FOR OUR TIMES
We threw a couple of hashtags out into the world:
#ARTofTHESETIMES - bookmarking, sharing and being inspired by art work created specifically during the lockdown
#ARTofLOOROLLS - showcasing art made literally with toilet rolls and holders
We had a little look at these on this show but will revisit them every week.
