OUTPACING THE ROBOTS
There’s no doubt about it, those pesky robots are here to stay and if we don’t get our heads around them, they’ll be taking over.
This action packed and off the scale inspiring STEAM Co. Day will give your children, teachers and anyone else in your community a jump-start into the world of Robots - how they work and how to take control of them.
DAY OVERVIEW
This full STEAM Co. Day consists of:
ALL SCHOOL ASSEMBLY
An action packed 45 minute overview of different types of robots and an up close look at a few including our famous Lego robot that can solve a Rubik’s Cube in 2 minutes.
We’ll also have a look at JD our Humanoid robot and the Oh Bot robot head.
We’ll look at a creative way of measuring robots so we can size up the risk they pose and also show how rubish they are at making a jam sandwich. Yes, believe it!
And we’ll do the robot dance too!
ACTIVITY WORKSHOPS
We then have four 40 minute workshops on a carousel:
THINK LIKE A ROBOT - robots aren’t as clever as you think and can only do what you tell them. Learn about and try out some computational thinking in this session.
MICRO:BIT CODING - learn how to code a BBC Micro:bit computer and see hwo it can control a robot
MEET EDISON - the newest addition to our Robot Family is this multi sensing and Lego compatible robot. He really is our favourite and we’ll see how easy he is to programme. See the film here
ROBOCROC- in this session we’ll look at how we can control a Lego Robocroc using Scratch
AIM HIGH
To finish the day and get everyone - children, teachers and parents all aiming high, we’ll launch a dynamite rocket off in the playground to send everyone home buzzing like a sticky servo!
