ABOUT STEAM CO.
STEAM Co. is a non-profit Community Enterprise co-founded by a dad, Nick Corston, in his son’s primary school ten years ago. (They’re now in KS3 and Sixth form at Acland Burghley! Below is a film made about STEAM Co. but another Burghley dad, Chris Sullivan who met Nick when their son’s were in Year 7 )
We’re passionate about Art - the power of Creativity, Tools and People.
We Campaign For, Inspire and Action Art in our Schools, Work and Lives.
Because we know how Art can Inspire Children in their Learning, Create Careers to Power Economies and Engage Communities, bringing us all together.
WE HELP CONNECT OUR KIDS WITH THEIR ART
AND OUR COMMUNITIES WITH THEIR SCHOOLS
We run a whole range of creative sessions in schools - like our half day #ROCKETKIDS session or full day #ARTofCODE or #WHATSyourART Days. We tour the UK with them.
When Corona Virus hit, everything changed forever and we decamped to a #CommunityLockIn from where we’re live streaming all sorts of stuff - school community days and art festivals.
This year we have plans to #INSPIRANATION21 to find their art.
STEAM IN CAMDEN
As far as we’re aware, Camden is the UK’s first STEAM borough with a commitment to ensuring all its school embrace creativity and the skills they will need to thrive in the 21st century.
It’s particularly important for Camden with company headquarters in the borough including Google, Facebook, Havas, Universal and the Francis Crick Institute, all of whom will need these skills in future employees.
We were delighted to partner with the Knowledge Quarter, a Camden/King’s Cross based organisation representing these companies and institutions, and hear from them at our #ArtConnects weekend in King’s Cross back in January 2018, see clip of highlights below.
